  • For those interested in ecological, sustainability and greening our last and perhaps greatest journey, check out the newly formed National Home Funeral Alliance at http://www.homefuneralalliance.org. We have an amazing upcoming conference in October 7-10 in Boulder, CO. Our keynote speaker is the internationally known, Josefine Speyer, founder of the Natural Death Centre in the UK. Check out the lineup and opportunity to study and learn from three of the pioneers in this movement at the preconference workshop. http://www.homefuneralalliance.org

Sounds fabulous Kate. Keep us posted about the Conference! I’ll add a post with the details. Warm Regards, Genevieve

  • Lynda Newnam:

    Hi,
Would you be able to give me a post to go on this website to promote green burials. We are trying to stop the expansion of the Botany Cemetery into heritage market gardens. Alan Jones was on radio yesterday supporting the Cemetery. This is the post I put up including the Jones podcast: http://laperousemarketgardens.wordpress.com/2012/02/17/alan-jones-on-la-perouse-market-gardens-chinese-gardeners-and-randwick-council

would appreciate your support and it’s a good way to promote your site.

    cheers, Lynda

  • Hello Genevieve. Just wanted to say that we are very much loving your website and fully support your green funeral awareness drive. It’s vitally important to get the word out there, and to show people that they have different options available to them; options that not only stay true to their environmental ethos, but that also aid the environment and the world in which we live. There are a variety of eco-friendly funeral services and products available, which we can offer, and we feel that more and more people deserve to know about them and their benefits. We have just launched very recently, and we currently offer green funeral services to the Perth and WA communities; our longer-term hopes are to roll out nationally throughout the rest of Australia. We are incredibly keen to showcase the positive environmental impact of green funerals. A Green Endings funeral produces fewer carbon emissions, and we work closely with non-profit organisation Carbon Neutral, one of Australia’s leading carbon management consultancies, to offset these emissions. We are proud to be able to offer our services to communities in WA, and we hope that we can help raise awareness and help people fulfil their environmental needs. More information can be found on our website http://www.greenendings.com.au. Thank you and keep up the great work!

    Hi Lynda,

Thank you for your comment and sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I have been busy with a new baby and haven’t been as active on Green Cemeteries as I’d like to be. I’ve just posted a short article about the issue, check it out here if you would like. I hope that the Council has seen sense and denied the Cemetery’s proposal. Let me know if there is anything else that Green Cemeteries can do.

    Sincerely,
    Genevieve

  • Administration:

    Dear Green Endings,

Thank you for your comments! I am so happy to learn about you and I love the work that you are doing! It would be great to keep in contact. I’ve ‘liked’ you on facebook and added you to our ‘Services’ page. I have also written a short post that is scheduled for tomorrow morning. I hope that everything works out for you. It would be great to see you nation-wide.

    Sincerely,
    Genevieve
